What does the weekly stretch/yoga produce in the workplace?

  • After each weekly stretch, I feel transferred to a more tranquil state of mind and it helps to transform my work day into an enjoyable and gratifying experience.
  • Yoga is a chance to physically reenergize, mentally relax and socially enjoy everyone’s company.
  • Opportunity to get away from the desk and screens to get in some physical activity during the day // Our timing is in the afternoon, assisting the afternoon lull once a week – less likely to grab a cup of coffee following group stretch // We have different departments that are separated in a lot of ways, provides a bonding activity with those who have a common interest to do the same activity
  • Weekly stretch gives me something to look forward to and provides me with a tool kit of movements for when I need to stretch at my desk. It generally gives me more energy and focus which I think reflects in my work.
  • Shannon comes to our office to do weekly stretching with the staff. She is professional and courteous, and always brings a great attitude. Shannon works with us to ensure that we are stretching correctly, and provides alternatives for those of us who are less flexible. It is tough sometimes to sit at a desk all day, but we always feel so good after we stretch with Shannon. I really look forward to having her come once a week, and my only wish is that she could come every day!

Shannon is a fantastic teacher, her positive energy and calm soothing voice can't help but get you hooked on yoga.  She caters to the individual and she is always able to find the perfect balance between challenging poses and restorative ones which always leaves me feeling reinvigorated. I appreciate how she takes the time to modify poses and breakdown each step toward the pose to ensure each student can benefit fully.  I have been Shannon's student for two years now and my flexibility has increased by leaps and bounds thanks to her guidance and encouragement.  I am thankful to have found yoga to nurture both my mind and body.  Thanks Shannon!

It was such a treat when Shannon came into our school, Chief Maquinna, to teach some yoga classes to our Grade 6 and 7 students. Instead of me being the one running the class, I as the classroom teacher, was able to participate along with my students which made it very special. Shannon also taught an extra class to my 6/7's concentrating on how to do yoga with their Kindergarten buddies - they loved it. It's wonderful to see the older students doing yoga moves with the little ones, teaching, modeling, and laughing along side each other. Shannon was professional, caring, and had a good rapport with the staff and students. It was thoroughly appreciated and I greatly hope to work more with Shannon, the students, and yoga in the future.
